I'll get through this comc package if it kills me. And it just might.
Today we'll show off a whack o' Ginter. Nothing but the hits baby!
I did quite well here... selling off old 2008 Ginter hits of random no names and acquiring 2013 Ginter hits of much wanted Bravos.
Allen&Ginter had two separate types of relics, full size, and bordered min relics.
Here are the full size. They look sharp. Well done.
Brandon Beachy - $1.08
Craig Kimbrel - $1.24 best reliever in baseball, and the cornerstone of my fantasy baseball team the last three years.
The J-Hey kid... $1.46
and the good Upton. (No, not Kate....) $1.24
I only need the Hank Aaron full sized relic and my set is complete.....
Bordered minis...
Brian McCann - $1.31 I'll miss him. Although I'll see him on tv four times a week now instead of four times a season..... Next on FOX! Yankees vs. Red Sox!
Jason... again.... $1.47 couldn't we have mixed up the player selection a bit? I already have a Kimbrel mini as well... seriously Topps...
oh, and a random Mike Joy for my dad. He got a kick out of it. $2.23
I'm really glad to have been able to pick these up... now I just have to find someone with the full sized Aaron relic....
Yeah... good luck.

Play at the Plate gets Ripped...
My good friend who runs the blog Play at the Plate sent me some cards the other day. I believe this was in response to me sending him some before that.
We kinda "trade" cards, but really, at least for me, it's just sending cards whenever I get a small stack ready to go.
He also has the advantage of being the only Rangers fan I've ever heard of, let alone know.
Onto the cards!
My boy J Hey from this year's Ginter. The back, of course, has been violated. but I don't care. It actually is still attached, and he looks good in my binder.
There was also a small stack of super shiny Chippers from the late '90's.... They all look a lot better in person, but I scanned a couple of my favourites anyway.
This Chipper is made out of really thin steel. And is sharp as hell. I can't imagine kids opening packs of these without losing some digits.
A see through Chipper! Only you can't tell in the scan.... ah well, believe me, it's cool.
And no package between us is complete without at least one McCann. I'm going to miss this guy. Although I won't recognize him either. Never seen him without facial hair.
Thanks bud. But one last question, with the ridiculousness of the latest idiot offerings from MLB, does Play at the Plate now have to change it's name???

Thanks for coming out! Here's a prize...
the past couple of trade nights at one of the local shops have brought more than just trades or disappointing box busts... they've brought freebies!
now you know how much I like free. If it's free, it's me.
The shop keep likes to hide little gems under the desk for his patrons, and I was the lucky recipient of a goodie each of the last two trade nights.
In September, I got this....
inside of it, this was hiding...
BMac! And a sad Dee Gordon sad that he hasn`t lived up to the hype that Topps put on him.
Here`s the back for posterity. Weird that we`ve got the back of Justin Verlander`s card instead of John Jaso.... but Jaso never rang Kate Upton`s bell, so there`s that.
This past week brought another treasure. A Jason Heyward Studio card form some sort of Panini pack giveaway that I knew nothing about. This doesn`t surprise me as I tend to not notice things like this.
and why on Earth would they reproduce this Studio set??? One of the worst sets of all time! Leave it to Panini I guess.
Oh, and there was also this parallel of the Jason Heyward card.
Great googly moogly. What is that?
I have no idea.... but in the Heyward binder it goes.
Thanks Darren!

In celebration of...
the Packers win, or rather, the Eagles loss. (that's the key here, is the Eagles loss. Because we hate the Eagles.) We honour the Pack's number one fan, Matt from Heartbreaking Cards of Staggering Genius.
You'd think I'd post a Packer, or even a football card. But no. You get this beautiful card.
Why?
Awhile back Matt put out a call for a card from his wantlist. I had it. I sent it, along with some other stuff that I can't remember. Matt was nice enough to send this back my way.
I definitely got the better end of the swap.
Thanks Matt! And congrats on the Packers win!!! (Eagles loss!!!)

Trade Night Success! and an update....
My 'local' card shop has a trade night every month. Nothing too special, just a bunch of guys getting together to generally belittle each other's choice in sports teams, with pizza and pack wars thrown in. Surprisingly, very little trading occurs. But a lot of wax gets busted.
This time, there was a lot of trading. Usually when someone comes up to me around here and says; 'You're that Braves fan, right?' It isn't a good thing. This time it turned out to be.
I was able to trade a couple of Martin Brodeur inserts for this baby....
On card /99. Doesn't get much better than that. Thanks for the swap Mike.I also traded for a bunch of hockey stuff, but you can see that on Just A Bit Offside when I get around to it. Maybe tonite. Maybe.
Also a small envelope from Darkship arrived. Todd had one of the last two stickers I needed for the 2010 Panini World Cup Sticker Book.
Shiny!
Chris Harris had sent me two of the last four I needed....
So now I'm just down to #36. From what I hear, dayf has it on the way. I can't wait. I just might finish this sucker in 2010. Awesome.

my humblest apologies...
it finally happened. I'm ashamed to say that after blogging for almost 8 months, I have completely lost track of a trade.
today I received this beauty in the mail....
Awesome.
But I don't remember asking for it in a trade, or being told it was coming. Okay, no big deal. Gifts are exchanged between friends. I, myself, usually go this route. I send stuff out, and if you'd like to send something back, great. Sometimes if I'm really after something, I'll trade to make sure I get it. But gifts are usually the way.
Who's this gift from? Wait, I don't recognize the address or name. I've searched my address book, combed through emails, frantically went back through comments left on the ole blog. Nothing.
I am the lowest of the low.
So D. Wright of Brantford Ontario, please, please forgive me, and accept my utmost thanks for such an amazing card.
And please shoot me an email so I can remember where I know you from.
EDIT: none other than my bud Tunguska from a Long Fly Ball to Because... I thought it might be you, but I had no idea this was coming. Thanks Dave!!!!

Your opinion please...
My latest contributions to the 2009 Goose Joak baseball card set.
First up, BMac...
Next, a choice. Your choice. Which Chipper Jones card should be submitted?
A) It's wabbit season...

WTF?!
What the motherloving hell is going on here???
First off, a big congratulations to Braves catcher Brian McCann for winning a Silver Slugger Award. Very deserved.
But how in the hell can a guy like David Wright win one over Chipper Jones?
Chipper only, I dunno, won a batting title this season. If he hadn't got hurt, would've had a case for MVP...
Seriously? David Freakin' Wright?
Unbelievable....
