Gold Glove aquisition

I went to trade night at one of the local shops last week. I was expecting a lot of hockey talk. The season is well underway, and a lot of new products had been released recently.
While there certainly was that, there was also some baseball being opened. And wouldn't you know it... a card appeared that as soon as I saw it, I knew I had to have it.

So much for my poker face. And they knew it.

Ah well... $20 later and this little beauty became mine.

I really like the card. A lot of jersey, the pic being in the center, the cut out logo, not to mention the sweet on card signature. A beauty.

I'll just concentrate on the good aspects of the game right now, and completely ignore the idiocy that is going on in ATL right now....

Jason Heyward was traded!

J Hey was traded to me during Thursday trade night at the local shop. He was part of a large 5 cards for 10 cards deal. I ended up with two baseball and eight hockey cards in the swap.

The main piece going back the other way was a 2011 Bowman Platinum Edwin Encarnacion bat relic auto /100 that I was going to show you.......... but I can't find the post in which I originally posted it.

So imagine it in all of it's green and blue shiny goodness.

Now look at Jason.

in case you can't read the wonderful foil, it's numbered 05/18

Jason and his newly acquired Gold Glove can rest for awhile now. They're home. Speaking of Gold Gloves... I can't believe out of the four nominated Braves, only Heyward won. Prado didn't get it, Freddie Freeman lost out to former Brave and Waxaholic fave Adam LaRoche, and the best defensive outfielder in baseball, Michael Bourn, lost out. And that's not me calling him the best, that's a quote from MLB.com.
Apparently being the best doesn't get you very far these days.

But I digress.... I also picked up the #1 best looking card from all of the 2012 baseball cards produced. This one would win any contest or poll.

Look at those beautiful and shiny black borders.
Undoubtedly the best card of 2012.

until I manage to find the Orange one.

or the Blue one.

and the Purple one...

Unlicensed and free!

For those of you here for the ongoing contest, a reminder that the Premier League is on a break this week so players can fulfill international obligations as their respective countries try to qualify for the 2014 World Cup.

To bring you up to speed, Canada beat Panama 1-0, while the U.S. lost to Jamaica 2-1.

A huge win for the Canucks.

Check back next Saturday for more Premier League action.

As for today, may I present you with a Panini unlicensed Dale Murphy autograph #'d 20/25.

Leave it to Panini to come up with a card called Limited Leather and include an auto instead of a glove relic, AND show the player batting instead of fielding.

Ah Panini..... consistancy at it's best.

This auto for the two time MVP came to me gratis via a good friend of mine at last night's trade night.
Thanks bud!

BTW, a little about Mr Murphy here.... some of you may not know that he came into the Bigs as a catcher. The Braves didn't like him there, so they moved him to first base. After a horrible season in which he committed 20 errors in the field, they moved him to center field where he promptly won five straight Gold Gloves.

How often do you hear that? The kid can't hack playing first, so let's hide him in center. Five Gold Gloves and two MVP's later........

BwahahahhaHAHAAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The American Gold Glove winners were announced today.... and let's just say that apparently a blind man used a dart board to pick some of the winners as Derek Jeter............

Takin' care o' business....

around 3 months ago or so... my good buddy Don Ortega put up a post showing off his latest acquisition. You all read My Past Time.... I Love It and know that the Wicked One spends at least 8 days a week shopping, looking for his next trade. Well, he put up a winner, and I bit.

Here is what I sent him.... LINK... go. read. but come back when you're done.

Back? Yeah, I sent over 150 '68's in NRMT condition... they were sweet. But Wicked wants to do the set, and I, never will, so it's a win/win.

A few days ago I received a package from FLA... and it was squishy. Oohhhh.... I know what it is!
Ripping it open, I found this...
Andruw Jones! The most dominant outfielder from 1998 to 2007. 10 straight Gold Gloves.
But wait.... what's that on the number?
Oh yeah baby! Signed, sealed and now, delivered.

Andruw is hitting over .300 and has 3 HR in 21 AB's so far this year.... too bad it's for the White Sox.
Thanks for the swap Wicked. Now I just gotta figure out how best to display this sucker....
