Premier League Contest - Match 35

Welcome to Match 35. As far as the Premier League is concerned, Oprah has sung, the party's over, Manchester United has earned the championship trophy with over a month still to play.

As far as we're concerned, the race is still on.

Being late in the year, I've assembled an All Star squad to help us get through the last few matches.

Pick your favourite, and let's get going.

Just to make it official...

ClubPldPts
Man Utd 3484
Man City 3368
Arsenal 3463
Chelsea 3362
Tottenham 3361
Everton 3456
Liverpool 3451
West Brom 3345
Swansea 3342
West Ham 3442
Fulham 3440
Southampton 3439
Norwich 3438
Sunderland 3437
Stoke 3437
Newcastle 3437
Aston Villa 3434
Wigan 3331
QPR 3424
Reading 3424

I've highlighted the teams in blue that are in the race for Champions League status... as you know, top four clubs make it... with them as well as the fifth place finisher also eligible for Europa League play.

All of that means more $$$ in the coffers.

At the bottom of the table, QPR and Reading face off, with the loser being confirmed to relegation. If Aston Villa beats Sunderland, both QPR and Reading are in the drop regardless.
Wigan is in tough hosting Tottenham.

That Villa match is on Monday, so let's get your comments in by Tuesday afternoonish.

Go United! 2013 Premier League Champions!

2011-12 Adrenalyn XL - a Manchester United pack break

my buddy dayf sent me a package last week. Included in the awesomeness that I'll share later, was a pack of 2011-12 Adrenalyn XL Manchester United.

look at those guys! Rooney, Giggs, Vidic, and Nani... plus special Power Up cards!

Did I get any of those guys?

No.

But let's see who I did get.

Striker Dimitar Berbatov. He won the Golden Boot Award two season's ago.... he's now playing for Fulham.
Fabio Da Silva. Left back. He's currently on loan to Queen's Park Rangers in order to get some playing time. His twin brother Rafael plays right back for Manchester United.
Michael Carrick, midfielder for United. Michael has played really well over the last few games. Very good player.
Tom Cleverly, midfielder. Young Tom is really carving out a place in the starting eleven for himself. Rapidly becoming a crowd favourite.
Darron Gibson, midfielder. The young Irishman currently plays for Everton.
Federico Macheda, striker. The 21 year old Macheda is currently in his 5th season with United. Unfortunately, he's 5th choice among strikers behind Rooney, van Persie, Hernandez, and Welbeck.
Well, only two starters, but all in all, some cool cards. I now have to try and get the rest of them!

Happy New Year!

I'm late and gotta catch up....

The postal strike is over!! Which means it's finally here! My good friend John, or Jack Plumstead if you prefer, sent me the 2011 Topps Premier League sticker book!!! Now if you've been paying attention, yeah, I'm a wee late on starting this. The season has ended with Manchester United rightfully atop the standings.

No matter! Isnt it pretty?
John also sent along what must be considered a rack pack over there...... 11 packets for the price of 10!!!
Isn't it nice how they don't try and snow you by saying "One FREE bonus pack!" But I digress.
Those astute ones in the bunch have by now noticed the new feature for this year........
Yeah baby!!! 3D!!! Not all the stickers.... but quite a few, plus a lot of pages in the book.
The set also has large team stickers, here showing the best team in English football.
and smaller, regular size stickers. The section that shows off all the new kits, (uniforms) are in foil this year.
As are all of the team logos. I show Everton here in respect to my friend G_Moses.
Something new this season is a section for "Stars of the Future". Basically young and upcoming players. Yeah, they're rookie cards. But they don't need a one inch square rookie card logo.... Old school.
and of course the regular base stickers. 449 in all.
Thanks John!!!! If on the off chance that any of you are collecting this... I'm always available for swaps.

Just in case you haven't seen it yet...

I've seen it a million times already, and it still gives me chills. In front of 76,000 people, Wayne Rooney proves why he's still the best. (you'll want to click it up to 720p HD)

EDIT: okay, I've tried 5 different videos now, Youtube keeps taking them down faster than I can put them up. This goal highlight must be loaded with government secrets or something. I'll try again later...

Suck on that City!
