The joys of random completed sets.

as one of the few remaining set collectors in existence (at least, that's how it feels around here at local trade nights and shows...) it's always a feeling of joy when I am able to add that last missing card to the binder. Filling that last empty slot in the page. I can't help but smile.

I was able to do just that for three sets recently.

a 2009 Black Ichiro Suzuki #300. This completes my 2009 Topps Black set. I don't have the regular flagship, but I do have the Black parallel complete set. Yay me.

I've had this card on my Dirty Dozen most wanted there on the right hand side of the blog for about three years, but have now crossed him, and a few others off.
Come to think of it, I can cross #7 off now too.

Keep an eye out for updates soon! I know you'll all wait breathless with anticipation. UPDATED!!!

Next up, card #126 from the 1992 Topps set.
This completes my 1992 Topps Braves team set.

and lastly, a wonderful minty fresh 1978 Topps Braves team card.

I'm surprised no one ever graded this baby. It's sharp. And now it's mine. Safe from the plastic prison from hell. Another team set complete.

and now as a reward for those of you who actually read this stuff.... head over to Play At The Plate and enter his contest. Somehow he got Topps to DONATE a hobby box of 2014 Bowman. And Mr Plate is giving it away. LINK <----------- p="">

It's over! It's finally over!!!

thanks to dayf, Morgan "Mr Happy' Gould has found a home in my 2010 Panini World Cup Sticker Book. And then it was done! Complete!

The joy of a completed sticker book!!!

Thanks to all the bloggers in Canada and the U.S who traded with me, as well as those in Serbia, Finland, Australia, and France. Of course, a big shout out to John in England who always helps with these types of things.

Now, who wants to see scans of their favourite team??? Speak now. If no one speaks, I may just show you the whole damn book. Threat or a promise, your choice.

a dinosaur, the last of a dying breed...

I, am a set collector. I've been called many things over the years. People still give me strange looks at card shows when I ask if they have any commons boxes of 1999 Topps Finest Football to look through. But I can't help it.
It's the chase. The joy of the completed page, and yes, the completed set.

Today was a good day for this dinosaur. My 1977/78 OPC hockey set, is now complete. Picked up the last 4 cards I needed for it. It cost me $2. Well worth it.

This is Holmgren's RC. The guy wanted $5, but look at the OC... ended up getting it for $1.50. Still too much...... but I paid it. I'll upgrade him, and two other cards in my set, later....
but first I want to enjoy it for a little while..... flip through the pages, read the backs... you know.
a couple of generous bloggers helped with my Conlon set. Thanks to Ryan and Shane! Now I only need 18 more to finish, but I did finally put the rest in pages. They look awesome!
It'll take weeks to read all of the cool stuff on the cards, let alone the pictures...
I also finished off my 09/10 UD Hockey series 1 set today...
and am only 2 cards short of Series 2. A big thanks to the nice card show dude today who gave me the 8 cards I needed... free! Gratis! Such a nice guy... I went back and bought 2 sets from him just because of that. See? Give me stuff and I buy more.
Now an ebay purchase. I'm working on the 40 card All World insert set from this year's Upper Deck Hockey. The last 10 are SP's... with these two, I now only need 4 more.
the book value of these 2? Over $40!!! Mojo!!!!
Meh. $2.99 shipped to my door from the same seller. He wasn't happy about it, but it's his own fault for even owning a Beckett.
If anyone out there can or wants to continue my good mood... please check out the old wantlist and let's make a deal. Hopefully I'll have something you want.

so close I can smell it...

Two cards. that's all I need to complete last years' A&G set before this years comes out. I still have a few left to trade that I haven't given away to others trying to complete this thing.
Does anybody have #312 and #313?

EDIT: darkship comes through.... Thank you Todd!

Where have you gone Bill Wennington?

I'm in the middle of Spring Cleaning. Yuck. But it needs to be done. Since there's still snow outside, I'm working inside. The house is pretty much done. Yay.
But my "card closet" is not. It needs it. Desperately. So in I dive. The beginning of Organization 101.

In the next few days you will see random posts like this one. If you want, pay no attention to my ramblings.. if you feel my pain, listen in. you can help. Yes. I'm talking to you.

Random babble #1

Somehow, card #431 Bill Wennington from '90/91 Hoops got up and left. Crawled out of the binder and went home. I looked through my monster box of doubles, and he wasn't there either. Now, I have a case of these waxboxes...(yes, a case) and I will open them all if I have to. It'll save me from sending them to dayf slowly over the next while...
but if you happen to have a minty fresh Bill Wennington #431, and you're willing to share... great.
I thank you. And I'll still be able to send stuff to dayf.
