Parléz Vous?
for those of you lost in playoff hockey, or still trying to find day games in Spring baseball, this just in.
Chad Johnson, the wide receiver formally known as Chad OchoCinco, formally known as Chad Johnson, has come out of retirement and signed with the CFL's Montreal Alouettes.

No word as of yet whether he will be known as Chad Quatre-Vingt Cinq or not.

Football's finest season....
It's the finest time of the year... (see what I did there?) Yes, it's football season! The best time of the year. Hopefully it also means some of this wretched heat goes away soon.
We won't even spoil the mood by mentioning that hockey seems lost until xmas. Nope. Not gonna do it.
I'm sure most of you saw the Cowboy's dismantling of the Giants to open the season. No surprise there. All of the well paid experts in print and tv land have picked the Cowboys to win the NFC East. Who am I to argue?
Tony Romo was 22 of 29 for 307 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Jason Witten played the game hurt while recovering from a lacerated spleen. He still managed a couple of catches and threw some key blocks.Dez Bryant managed 4 catches for 85 yards while being double covered most of the game.
and DeMarco Murray ran 20 times for 135 yards.
Late tonight, the entire planet will be watching some guy in a new uni playing against the leagues top rated passing defence.
Should be a great one. Get your popcorn ready.
And if anyone has busted any 2012 Topps Finest like these fine cards you see here, and have any Cowboys that aren't pictured, I'd be very appreciative if you'd share.

Holy crap! Are You Ready?
With all of the excitement of the Olympics, I completely missed the fact that as of today, it's football season! (insert obligatory Bugs Bunny/Daffy Duck wabbit/duck season joke here)
That's right, it's Hall of Fame weekend. And that means the annual Hall of Fame game was played. Arizona vs New Orleans. Who won? Who cares?
The absolute highlight of the night was colour man Mike Mayock singing "Play that funky music white boy" from beginning to end with 8 minutes left in the 4th quarter.
And another thing, anybody bust any of this Inception stuff??? It's pretty sweet.
Go Cowboys!

Card of the Week How to, and How Not to.....
This week's cards are courtesy Chris from Stale Gum. He sent these, and a bunch of others over a little while ago.
Today we feature triple relic football cards from two high end Topps products. Unique and Triple Threads.
First, we see what Unique has to offer. And it is The Awesome.
Good use of team colours, nice symetry. And Game Used swatches. In my dreams I can see the spaces to the right filled with on card autos in silver sharpie. I know one of you enterprising readers out there will tell me that Unique does horrible sticker autos, but until then, my dream has on card. In silver. Awesome. If only I knew someone near Arlington who could do the in person auto thing for me....Secondly, we see the much maligned and disliked Triple Threads. Here we have three 'quarterbacks' from the '09 draft. I put 'quarterbacks' in quotations because two of these rooks aren't in football anymore.
Pat White, a second round pick of the Dolphins was cut this past year and is currently the towel boy for one of the Kansas City Royals AA teams....
Nate Davis, drafted in the 5th round by the 49'ers..... didn't even make the team in training camp. A FIFTH round pick... really??? And on top of that he didn't even make the team???? He's currently driving a UPS truck in Dubuque, Iowa.
Stephen McGee, a 4th round pick of the Cowboys, is at least still in football, serving as the third string Qb on the Cowboys. While showing a lot of talent in preseason games, the only way Steve sees the field is a plane crash on Tony Romo's house.
oh, and of course, player worn swatches. It doesn't even guarantee which players.... On the plus side, unlike most Triple Threads crap, I can at least understand what the die cut windows are trying to say, so there's that.

Free Football!
No. Not for you. For me! Joe from Priceless Pursuit was offering some free football cards. You know football is my favourite. (and free don't hurt neither..)
All in all I ended up with 6 Troy Aikmans, 7 John Elways, a Roy Williams, and a Tony Romo. Along with two hijackers. More on that later.
Some highlights;
Collectors Edge Gold Logo
Aikman handing off to Emmitt. Damn I miss that.
Troy dropping back to beat the Giants. Again.
Here's where the first hijacker comes in... on the front, Troy Aikman.... on the back we have
Warren Moon. Okay. A solid QB. It would've been better in his Houston uniform though. Or his Edmonton one. That would've been sweet!
John Elway rocking the retro...
Classic die cut-jo!
and my man Tony! If you look in the background, you'll see that Tony is celebrating the winning touchdown over Indianapolis two years ago.

Thanks Joe!

Hark, the Angels sing!
It is a great day today as it was announced that Tony Kornheiser will NOT be back in the Monday Night Football Booth this season.
Who was the idiot responsible for hiring this guy anyway? Wouldn't it be nice to put someone in the booth who knows football? Or maybe watches it regularly? What a concept.
What really gets me, is that apparently, he wasn't fired, but chose to step down due to a fear of flying. Wow. Maybe he had pictures of somebody or something.
Ex-coach Jon Gruden steps in to take his place. Awesome. Now if we could only get rid of Mike Tirico......

Football opinion needed...
Whew. All that Wildcard football... some really good games this weekend. It's too damn bad my Cowboys aren't in the middle of it. But that is another subject entirely....
I've got some football packs to open. You, the avid readers, (all 7 of you) get to choose which one I open first.
Your choices:
2005 Score
2006 Aspire

No imagination??? Or too much?
While rummaging through a few boxes of football to find some Jets to send out as part of a trade... I found a Game Used card of Peyton Manning. (Yeah, I know. Peyton/Jets??? I am terribly unorganized. But this will change! Soon. Probably. Well, maybe...)
Back on topic. What's so unusual about a Game Used Peyton Manning card? Follow me this. Take a look at it. Read it. I know the foil didn't scan well, but give it a shot.
Yep. That's right. A Game Used Goal Post Cover card of Peyton Manning. Have we already ran out of jerseys, pants, socks and jocks that we need to start using stuff like this???????
Seriously? Take a lesson Topps and Upper Deck... I stopped collecting for 13 years because of the crap that was going on. Don't make me do it again.
Now the real question..... How the hell did I get this card in the first place?
