Now, optimists tell me that Vazquez is an "innings eater" He can give you 220 innings next year! I'm 6'4" and 260 lbs. I can eat a lot more than innings. And I could throw 220 innings if Bobby would let me. But, he wouldn't. And he won't let Vazquez either. His last year in the National League? 2005. 11-15 with a 4.65 ERA. Be still my heart. His stats last year? 12-16 , 4.67. Super.
Why must we continue to package our youth away for below average over the hill vets? I know Bobby is close to retirement. We gotta win now. But these guys might kill him. Denys Baez, anyone?
I cried when we acquired Teixeira too. But at least there was an upside. The second best switch hitter in baseball! Now hitting behind the best switch hitter in baseball. SWEEET!
Now look. We gave up all that for Casey Kotchman. wow.
If Frank insists on giving away our farm system... then get Peavy. But taking away Escobar and adding Flowers to his trade package and getting Vazquez? That's the best he could do?
I'm too wired to write coherently.... the world is going to hell in a handbasket. I'm going to go watch a Clint Eastwood movie or two. The world will seem right then. He always fixes things.

you're making me reconsider the post I just left on Cardboard Junkie
I know what you're thinking. Did he trade six prospects or only five? Well to tell you the truth in all this excitement I've kinda lost track myself. But being this is Javier Vazquez - the most mediocre innings eater in the world and would blow close games before the bullpen even gets a chance to screw it up, you've got to ask yourself one question--Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya punk!
you're not helping dayf...
